Can Mi Note 2 Help Xiaomi To Snatch Markets From The Galaxy Note 7
Mi has released its new flagship phone the Mi Note 2 this week. Mi has many names for it, and they surely hope the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 lookalike would surpass the giant itself to become people's most liked Note device. So, what does Mi have in store for the common public? Is it as mighty as they say it is, or is it another gimmick played by Mi? Let's find out.
The Mi Note 2 has a bunch of facial changes, and the most distinguishable of them all is the curved front and back design made possible by 3D glass, housing that massive and brilliant Full HD OLED screen of 5.7 inches.
The curved edges is not where the magic stops though, as the phone comes with top of the lines specs to impress. The phone comes with a massive 23 megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture which is crucial for low light photography. The camera is a Sony IMX sensor and is capable of 4K video recording.
Some people would be disappointed to hear that OIS is not supported by the camera, but Mi has promised stabilized video recording through clever usage of EIS or Electronic Image Stabilization. EIS works on a gyroscopic model and is going to be the replacement of OIS on the Mi Note 2.
The front camera is also a Sony IMX sensor of 8 megapixels with an f/2.0 aperture. The Note 2 comes in two RAM options. The 4GB model comes with 64GB onboard storage and the 6GB RAM model comes with 128GB onboard storage.
The phone doesn't have a microSD card slot. Since Mi has been promoting its mobile payment systems, the Mi Note 2 is having NFC.
The processor is the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 and runs even the most demanding tasks effortlessly. What's more, is that Mi has given this smartphone a massive 4070 mAH battery which would easily last through a day of heavy usage, if not more. The phone supports Quick Charge 3.0 and would also have a USB Type-C port.
The Note 2 comes with an IR blaster and a headphone jack, and is rumored to have a dedicated sound system for crisp sound, both on the loudspeakers and in the headphones. The Note 2 is also import friendly as the handset comes with compatibility to 37 LTE bands.
The phone has a very capable fingerprint scanner which unlocks the phone in lightning speed. The Mi Note 2 is priced very attractively at RMB 2799 for the base model of 4GB/64GB, RMB 3299 for the 6GB/128GB and RMB 3499 for the 6GB/128GB Global model.
Xiaomi looks to snatch all the market that was held up by the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Would it impress the masses? That can only be found out after the phone releases to Chinese and select global markets in November.
