Nintendo Compares The Original Zelda To The Breath Of The Wild
Nintendo's Legend of Zelda franchise has sprouted new wings and has gone back to the roots. The 1997's masterpiece, The Ocarina of Time opened new mechanics for players and was an achievement in itself. Nintendo places the Ocarina of Time high in regards and has developed the Breath of the Wild keeping in mind the 1997's jewel.
The Breath of the Wild would be making new changes to the game, including a more open world with elements of survival. The mechanics are different too. For example, our hero Link, only needs to steer the horses while riding them. This was done to make the gamer focus on his surrounding with the camera, and also focus on the combat using the bow and the sword.
Other cosmetic changes include more dexterity with the game characters. Link can now vault and do a slow motion action to attack enemies precisely.
Developer Nintendo has recently made a post that compares the in-game screenshots between the 1986 game and the Breath of the Wild.
Nintendo has shown the "old man" sequence wherein the original game, Link meets an old man and the old man offers him a sword claiming that it was dangerous to go alone.
In the new game, there is yet another old man who introduces our hero to the Great Plateau as the birthplace of the entire kingdom of Hyrule. The old man then proceeds to direct Link to the Temple of Time. The old man is crucial as he later turns up with a quest that will lead Link out of the starting point.
Other comparisons include Spectacle Rock which are two rocks in the shape of glasses found in both games, but thanks to the art team, it now looks more like a mountain than a rock in the new game.
In order to navigate water on the original game, gamers had to use the raft. The concept has been carried over to the Breath of the Wild by using the Korok Leaf for navigating cold rivers.
In the old game, a skull shape can be found appearing in Zelda's final dungeon. The shape can also be found made into an enemy hideout in the new game.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild releases in 2017 and would be a launch title for the upcoming Nintendo Switch.
