Google's Tango Enabled Lenovo Phab Pro 2 To Sail The Augmented Reality Market This Year
If you are an Augmented Reality fan and have used a couple of apps and games like Pokemon Go in the past, it's time for you to get excited. Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, the first Tango phone by Google is here to immerse you in its use experience.
The Phab Pro 2 was speculated to launch during Q2 2016, but was delayed until fall, and finally it is ready to hit the markets worldwide.
Google's push towards augmented reality which was coined "Project Tango" initially is not a project anymore. It has evolved into something marketable. The AR-enabled phone has started shipping from November 1. Augmented Reality is a potentially vast market and Lenovo has decided to sail the seas with Google with this phablet phone.
Google's Tango imparts some rather interesting capabilities to the powerhouse of the phone. Lenovo says that this new technology from Google enables augmented reality gaming and utilities. Lenovo further adds that all you have to do is look through the Phab 2 Pro, and you'll see objects and information overlaid onto the real world.
The possibilities with the AR technology are endless. For example, you can use the phone to see how your new furniture would look in your room. You can also see how your interior decor would look like after remodeling. You can also use the phone to share new AR concepts. The phone enables you to turn your surroundings into a virtual environment.
The Phab Pro 2, although is a new phone, doesn't pack flagship level specs. It has a massive 6.4-inch QHD display with 2.5D glass around its edges. Powered by a rather midrange Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor and 4GBs of RAM, the phone doesn't quite cut it with the high-end phablets in the market.
The phone also runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 and comes with an onboard storage of 64GB. The camera on the phone is a decent 13MP camera. To power the AR-enabled phone, Lenovo has taken the help of a massive 4,050 mAh battery, which increases the overall thickness of the phone. Overall, the hardware specs are good enough for it to be considered a mid-range phablet.
The phone doesn't show off its specs, however, it steals the show with its AR capabilities. About 35 Tango apps are available for the phone right now, and this includes apps from Autodesk and Lowe which utilize the phone's AR capabilities for 3D mapping. The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro has a price tag of $499.99 and will attract the AR dependent crowd.
