Nexus 6P Battery Issues, Android Nougat 7.0 Update To Blame?
Earlier this week, Reddit was flooded by Nexus 6P users, who complained that their devices had been suffering from random shutdowns and battery failures ever since Google rolled out Android Nougat 7.0 in the phone.
Google has released the Android Nougat in the Q3 of 2016 to critical acclaim. Users and critics all over the world have chimed in with their reviews about how stable Android Nougat seems to be. The new update has introduced some long awaited changes to the UI and to the multitasking ability.
Google has now introduced split screen multitasking along with double tapping the recent apps key to switch between apps. These new multitasking features have come along with Google Assistant, which is an update over Google Now.
Although the initial reports were good, the update has had a troubling run with Nexus 6P phones. TheRedyTedy, a YouTuber, posted a video on 29th of October detailing the power issue he was having with the Nexus 6P. To prove that the issue was indeed real, he showed that his phone was running the officially released Android Nougat 7.0, and not an unstable beta version.
Since then, the YouTuber has created a thread on Reddit to point out the issues. Quite surprisingly, other Nexus 6P users also joined the thread with their own battery related incidents.
People have pointed out that the 6P keeps shutting down when it hits a certain battery percentage. Other users have also claimed that the new update actually drains battery faster than normal. All of these people have one thing in common, is that they installed the Android Nougat on their phones. The issues seem to be arising after the said installation.
Some users claimed to have solved the issues, though temporarily, by resetting the phone. Huawei and Google are not commenting on this issue, however, it is speculated that the news of battery failures have reached their ears and they would be rolling out a patch pretty soon.
