Go-Pro, the popular action camera maker announced that it is recalling all the 2,500 new Karma drones it has sold since its launch into the market. GoPro launched its new Karma drone, a first of a kind action camera than its usual core action versions, two weeks ago.

The power-loss issue in few Karma drones

However, a few units of the new Karma drone were reported to have fallen out of power loss. Though this unprecedented error, has not led to any serious injuries or property damages, the makers have announced to recall all the 2,500 units GoPro has sold so far. The pretty-heavy action camera, was sold individually for $799 and $1,100 along with the Hero 5 GoPro camera, and a Steadicam-like Grip.

GoPro announces full refund for the recalled drones

GoPro has said that it will refund for all the drones sold so far, and has also offered to pay the shipping charges that the buyers have to incur to send it back. However, the company has also stated that it is not offering any replacement. Also, the expected launch of the rectified Karma drones is yet to be known.

GoPro to work "in close coordination" with CPSC and FAA

The company has also not given any word on what could have possibly caused the power loss. GoPro said that it is closely coordinating with the USCPSC U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the FAA Federal Aviation Administration on the recall of the Karma drones.

"Safety is our top priority," GoPro's CEO Nick Woodman said in his statement regarding the recall. Though the Consumer Product Safety Commission's spokesman has expressed that it does not regulate the recall of consumer drones, the GoPro spokesman stated that the CPSC has given its consent on proceeding with the recall.

The unexpected change in Karma's plans

The new Karma was expected to revive the year-old fallen sales of the company from $400 million and from $ 240.4 million in its third-quarter. To their bad-luck, after the recall announcement GoPro stocks declined by nine percent.

GoPro asks for complete recall regardless of defects

The company has requested all the consumers who bought the Karma drone to return it regardless of whether they faced the power issue or not. The company has also set up its website with FAQ on how to carry out the recall and refund process with detailed instructions to make it as easy as possible for the customers. However, GoPro fans are still expecting when or if Karma drones will be back to shelves after solving the problem.

It has indeed been a bruising financial quarter for the company!
