As far as the software is concerned both these devices are featuring the operating system Android v6.0.1 Marshmallow.   But it is speculated that the Moto Z Play might be upgraded to the v7.0 Nougat OS.

Galaxy A9 is considered to have an upper hand over the Moto Z Play when   compared in terms of processor, camera, display, and processor.
