Just over a month away from its slated release, 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' new international trailer has been released. The trailer combined scenes from older previews with some interesting new footage, particularly one that has generated a lot of curiosity in terms of the plot of the 'Anthology' spinoff.

The said footage appears at the beginning of the new 'Rogue One:A Star Wars Story' trailer. It shows Jyn Erso as a young girl running home before Orson Krennic and his Imperial minions arrive. Although it is difficult to decipher the situation, previous reports and trailers have revealed that Jyn's father, Galen, helped build the Death Star. It is suspected that Krennic must have arrived to bring Galen back to the Imperial base with him.

However, the subject of curiosity is a small crystal pendant that Jyn's mother is shown handing to her while saying, "Trust in the Force." The trailer then flash forwards to Jyn as a young adult holding on to the crystal as she gets into trouble in a far away galaxy.

There are several sites including THR speculating that the crystal that Jyn has in her possession is a kyber crystal. A kyber crystal is the power source used for lightsabers- a Jedi's primary weapon and a key component of the Death Star.

The Empire used kyber crystals to power the Death Star's superlaser following the fall of the Jedi Order, Cinemablend reported. The battle station isn't offensively operational yet, which means that the Empire either doesn't have enough crystals to power or it could be missing a key crystal, which could be the one that Jyn is safekeeping in the film.

Not to forget, 'Rogue One: Star Wars Story' takes place in 'Jedha,' a planet described as the 'holy land' by the worshippers of the Force. It is also the place where the crystals are mined which could be the reason for the Imperial force stationing itself there.

However, these are speculations having been emerged from the new trailer. 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' will release on Dec. 16.
