The director of National Security Agency states that it was a conscious effort by the nation-state as an attempt to achieve a specific effect through the leaks and disclosures that were published by WikiLeaks in a run-up to the Presidential elections this year.

According to reports from IBTimes, it is believed that Hillary Clinton's presidential bid was hampered, as the state-sponsored hackers worked to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.

US Intelligence chief says that Wiki Leaks did not publish the discloser's by-chance. In fact, US Presidential elections were not a target that was selected purely arbitrarily.

The nation state question has not been named but experts are continuously saying that some Russians were behind the penetrations. These intrusions were previously discussed at the Democratic National Committee as well as the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

About 20,000 DNC emails were leaked by WikiLeaks in September and October along with thousands of messages from John Podesta who is considered as a close aide of Hillary Clinton. Further, it is believed that the hackers who carried out infiltrations in the US were affiliated to Kremlin.

Russia has been officially accused by the US intelligence community of overstepping the boundaries of cyber-espionage in October. It has been declared that senior most officials from Russia might have authorized the cyber attacks.

A Russian-directed effort is sensed from the disclosers and hacked emails on WikiLeaks and sites like DCLeaks.com and Guccifer 2.0 online persona. These thefts were done in order to interfere with the US presidential elections.

A former advisor to Russian president Putin admitted that Russian forces have helped WiliLeaks a little bit in association to the leak of emails and messages.

On the other hand, WikiLeaks is completely denying the fact whether this organization has any connection to Kremlin or Russian interests. Further, Wiki Leaks says that it is committed to publishing information that informs the public even if few might prefer not to see it.
