The Last Guardian's initial official announcement was made in 2009. The game is now releasing on December 6, 2016. The game got delayed for almost a decade, and it surely has surprises.

The development had first started in 2007 with the official announcement to be made only on 2009. It is no doubt that the game has taken a good period of almost nine years and the gamers have expectations. Hence the game needs to meet these expectations as well as answer the question as to why it could not be released with PS3.

The Plot

The game starts with a kidnapped boy waking up in an unknown island. To his surprise, the only company he finds is a half mammal and half bird creature, by the name Trico.

It seems hostile at first hissing around. He is uncomfortable to eat the blue glowing stuff in a barrel, his food. But as any pet, the user should understand it even if they do not share the same language. After that, the characters seem to lurch for each other.

The boy has got a new look with darker tattoos over his body. The voice also has also grown deeper. The character is shy yet brave. The creature, on the other hand, has finally got a look of Griffin, initially disputed upon.

It is the look of this creature that put on limitations for early release because of the lack of appropriate hardware to achieve the desired appearance.

Is The Game Worth The Wait?

The game is not only connected by mechanics to Ico and Shadow of Colossus but also the story is intertwined. The boy, born with a horn, is most probably the one in the game.

The creature is assumed to be the last surviving Guardian. The game has the complete narrative that explains in the background and helps to find out the way if stuck. However, the real link can only be discovered once the game reaches the end of play.

Though the main protagonist is the boy, it is he who needs protection owing to the self-defending size of Trico. Trico and the boy is an inseparable pair and needs one another to puzzle down the way out.

The movements of the boy are mere strides, but he can also climb, jump and run. The most important ability is to jump and ride Trico that enables him to reach to places beyond its reach. The wait, however, has assured one thing that we can also fly with the creature. The addition is worth the wait.

The advancements through the game appear to be slow. Sometimes the camera is under your control, but at other times it is not. Moreover, the boy can also head in directions of clues that are a dead end.

The journey proceeds if you return. The game, therefore, turns sometimes depressing when your efforts seem futile. However, we can only hope that the game does not contain plenty of such evidence.

What Should You Expect?

All in all the game has the largest gestation period, and the trailers do hold a hopeful note. However, whether the long wait is justified or not can only be found out once it is officially released.
