Qualcomm's Next Flagship Chipset Named Snapdragon 835: Features And Updates You should know
The most used processor across the globe manufactured from US' Qualcomm Snapdragon announced the name of its latest chipset which a big leap in the history of the chipset technology. Qualcomm's latest chipset is called the Snapdragon 835 which is smaller yet more powerful and energy efficient than its predecessor Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. It was created using Samsung's 10nm FinFET process technology.
The Samsung- Qualcomm Partnership
It is notable that the Snapdragon 835 is second in the series of Qualcomm's productions in association with Samsung. The new Snapdragon 835 flagship chipset is expected to be used in most of the smartphones lined up for release in 2017. Qualcomm has been venturing with Samsung as the Korean tech giant has been making giant steps ahead in terms of Nano-sized and more efficient processors. This wise association has led to another leap in the world of chipsets with 10nm process technology, which is much smaller and faster, compared to Snapdragon 820 manufactured with Samsung's 14nm process technology.
Snapdragon 835 vs. Snapdragon 820
Qualcomm said that the new Snapdragon 835 chipset, manufactured using Samsung's 10nm process technology, is around 30 percent smaller, 27 percent more power-saving and 40 percent more efficient compared to the Snapdragon 820. Thus, smartphones powered by the new Snapdragon 835 chipset will provide more battery life and space for more components due to its compact size.
The Senior Vice President of Product Management at Qualcomm, Mr. Keith Kerssin says "We are excited to continue working together with Samsung in developing products that lead the mobile industry."
He also said that the 10nm process node will allow the "premium tier" Snapdragon 835 processor to be more power efficient and high performing.
Features and Availability
Apart from its small size and increased efficiency the Snapdragon 835 also supports Quick Charge 4.0. This new feature is expected to increase the charging speed by up to 20 percent. Also, the Quick Charge 4.0 is claimed to provide five hours of charge in five minutes similar to the Dash Charge feature in the new OnePlus handsets. The new Snapdragon 835 chipset will support USB Type-C. The production of the new chipsets has already begun and it is expected to power smartphones from the first quarter of 2017 itself.
