"The Librarians" Season 3 was back last Sunday, and fans might see more deaths in the mystery drama. Executive Producer Dean Devlin has mentioned about the stakes being higher in the upcoming season.

"In the third 'Librarians' movie, [Judson] warns Flynn that there will be the ultimate battle of good and evil. That's what this season is focusing on, that ultimate battle," mentioned executive producer Dean Devlin about show's darker tone this season, reports Entertainment Weekly. "It's a little more like the movies were - a bit darker."

Devlin went on to say that the stakes would be a member of the Librarians' team. Devlin mentioned that they didn't have the character loss in mind when they first started the storyline, however, later on, they realized that the character is going to leave the show.

However, this does not mean that the upcoming season of the thriller would be all about death and gloom. Fans will be able to see guest stars like Felicia Day and Sean Austin along with some romantic interactions due to a love potion.

As for the fate of Jake, Ezekiel, and  Cassandra, Devlin mentioned that they will be struggling against the consequences of magic. The danger is because The Librarians are always around magic. As such even if they are protectors, they can be corrupted by it and turn to the dark side.

Devlin mentioned that in the upcoming season, the protectors will be going against the Egyptian God of Chaos, Apep, whose mission is to introduce evil in the world. However, the Librarians would have to stop Apep before he accomplishes his goal. The recently released trailer also shows the Librarians going against Apep, according to Gizmodo.

Devlin mentioned that he is the biggest "Doctor Who" fan, and thus there might be some inspiration from the show. In fact, the Love Potion episode has been inspired by the show.

"The Librarians" season 3 premieres Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.
