How To Fix The Google Pixel And Pixel XL Lens Flare Issue

Google Pixel and Pixel XL released this year to worldwide critical acclaim, as it is a pure Android experience with Google's credibility and trust. Nexus is already popular, and Google's in house phone has been exceptionally well received.

Google Pixel and the Pixel XL, as touted by Google, has the highest rated camera on a smartphone. However, when reviewers got their hands on the phone, they could see a distinct lens flare popping up in daylight photographs. In some cases, the lens flare was prominent enough to ruin immersive images.

This extended to thousands of customers who were unhappy with a product lacking finesse when it fetched a more than premium price. However, the lens flare seems to be a software issue rather than a hardware issue, and until the official fix comes from Google, there are some fixes that Pixel and Pixel XL customers can do to get rid of the lens flare issue.

For starters, customers can take a picture is a certain angle to reduce lens flaring. The lens flare is only triggered when the light directly falls on the edges of the lens. This can be reduced if the light source is placed at the center of the lens, or behind it.

If the above doesn't work, users would have to wait for the software update that would presumably solve the lens flaring issue. This update was rumored to be arriving in early to late November, and customers can expect to download the patch late November or early December.

Some other ways to prevent a lens flare is by attaching a lens cover to the lens. Though practical for DSLR cameras, it seems very impractical and otherwise a hindrance to smartphone cameras.

For Google Pixel owners, either solution seems to be problematic, and would be making them wait. The smartphones are without a doubt the very best 2016 has to offer, but for the lens flare issue.
