"Dancing With The Stars", which ended recently has found a new champion for this season, and it's the golden girl. Olympic gold medalist, Laurie Hernandez, took home the famous Mirrorball Trophy last Tuesday.

Hernandez, along with her partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy triumphed over racecar driver James Hinchcliffe and his partner Sharna Burgess, according to CNN. The third set of dancers included Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold, reported People Magazine.

"I just want to thank everyone for their support riding along this crazy roller coaster of my life," Hernandez said. "My goal is just to inspire others as I go on with my journey and thanks for being there for me."

Hernandez's partner Chmerkovskiy also thanked the audience for supporting them, and also mentioned that one does not have to grow up to change the world, they can do it as it is.

Runner-up dancers Hinchcliffe and Burgess were a bit disappointed with the results. Hinchliffe mentioned that he hadn't anticipated that he would be finishing up second to Hernandez. However, he congratulated both of them on their success and then said that he was proud of them and their efforts.

Incidentally, the 16-year-old dancer was the fifth Olympian to win the competition. Previous Olympian champions are speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno, gymnast Shawn Johnson, figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi and ice dancer Meryl Davis.

Fortunately for the fans, despite the ending of season 23 of "Dancing With The Stars," this won't be the last time Hernandez will be onstage. Co - host of the show Tom Bergeron mentioned that Hernandez will be joining the DWTS live tour during the finale episode.

Meanwhile, the second co - host of the show Erin Andrews mentioned that everyone was deserving, but Hernandez was an American girl, and with her efforts in Summer Olympics and in the ballroom, she deserved the title.
