Apple Offers A $149 Fix For The "Touch Disease" iPhones

Apple is on the news yet again. The Cupertino company announced that it would be fixing the touch issues concerning some of its iPhones, but for a very dear price. Some of Apple's iPhones, especially the thinner and lighter iPhone 6 Plus devices, have a "touch disease". The touch disease is seen in iPhones where a flickering bar appears over the display, at the top end, and the display stops responding.

Apple has since announced that they would be helping customers and solving the issue at a very dear $149 price. Apple stated that they would be contacting customers who have taken their phones to an authorized repair centre, or have paid the company. Apple will fix their phones and reimburse the price difference.

The problem seems to be arising from events of the iPhone dropping and hitting a hard surface multiple times. Apple says this isn't all to set up the touch disease. The iPhones that have the touch disease must have had undergone further stress.

What's more interesting though, is that iFixit says that the touch disease in the iPhones is a design flaw. When phones are thin, the chips controlling the touch sensitive display are placed very close to the surface. If the phone is dropped, the phone twists and bends and this creates pressure on the chips, causing them to generate the touch disease.

The problem seems to be with most thin Apple iPhones, including the iPhone 6, however, Apple hasn't stated if it will be providing a fix for that model of iPhones. Neither has it stated if it will be providing discounts on the repair of the model.

Apple has been getting filed class action lawsuits over the issue. In August,Apple was facing three class action lawsuits over this issue. Ever since multiple customers have popped in with this problem. Apple has taken action, as the lawsuits state that Apple didn't do anything despite the claims.
