Disney's ‘Moana’ Rakes In $15.7 Million On Thanksgiving Eve
Disney's Moana made an outstanding performance at the box office, raking in $15.7 million during its first day of release, leaving its competitors to bite the dust. Back in 2013, Frozen generated $15.2 million during the same period and ended up having $93.4 million in ticket sales during the five-day occasion.
Moana follows the story of a fearless sixteen-year-old-girl who will do anything to save her people. Per Variety, the film is expected to get more than $80 million within the next five days since its release.
Hawaiian Actress Auli'i Cravalho As Moana
Moana is the daughter of the chieftain of the Oceania Island in Motunui. She's voiced by 16-year-old Hawaiian actress, Auli'i Cravalho. According to their tradition, she and her tribe must never venture beyond the reef. But a certain evil comes and the ocean has chosen the heroine to save her people and the whole world by pursuing this mission.
As expected, this proves to be a colossal task as she braves hell and high water just to keep herself afloat. Good thing she meets Maui, a demigod played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. He's funny and so unsure of himself, despite his size and other great attributes. Together, they sail across the ocean on an action-packed adventure. Here, they encounter monster creatures and virtually impossible odds.
Gramma Tala is another character viewers will love. She's truly wise and supportive as Moana's grandmother. An equally funny character goes by the name of Heihei, which happens to be a rooster whose IQ is below sea level- even for a rooster. He loves eating rocks and becomes a stowaway in the outrigger canoe used by Moana to reach her destiny.
The film is directed by Ron Clements and John Musker and co-directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams as published by The Wall Street Journal. The visuals are amazing as they are entertaining. The songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda are also something to boast about.
