No Plans Of Google Daydream Support For OnePlus 3T, CEO Brands VR Headset As Unworthy

OP3T packed with much better specs than its predecessor like Snapdragon 821 quad-core 2.35 GHz processor. But the only drawback, the phone is rolling out with Android 6.1 Marshmallow. While its competitors like Samsung S7 & S7 Edge, Google Pixel & Pixel XL, HTC 10 and LG V20 are either getting ready or being released with Android 7.0/7.1 Nougat, OP3T is still reeling with a lower version to the disappointment of its fans. And what is more excruciating is that OnePlus Inc. has not even announced a date for Nougat.

A recent comment by CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that OnePlus 3T is not supporting yet for Google Daydream platform and there are no plans for it right now. Ahead of the European launch OnePlus team talked to Reddit on 23 November 2016, as reported by IBTimes UK

Under the username "carpe02", he further stated that "Why? VR with a phone strapped to your head is cute but not really useful in the near term. Ask people who've used other mobile VR products".

In an interview to Pocket-Lint, he used to tone, "I don't even know what Daydream actually is. I know it's like this reference composite design, and we were paying a lot of attention to it before the OnePlus 3".

However, OnePlus founder Pete Lau quoted earlier, "We have developed the OnePlus 3T to bring significant improvements in new technology that is available today so that our customers do not have to wait for the best possible user experience".

Unless OnePlus 3T releases the Nougat update, the Daydream VR set will be fully functional. That is because Nougat is embedded with Vulcan API which supports the Daydream.

Anyhow, it will be interesting to see whether he can withstand the pressure and convince OP3T fans, who will eventually push for Daydream support on the smartphone.
