Sales of Sony PlayStation VR are almost on the track as the company will outsell the combined sales of HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, according to an October consumer survey panel of data tracker website GfK, The Market For Computers &Videogames (MCV) reported.

Sony as a research firm states that it was because of the hardware's PlayStation branding which led to high expectation from the technology and many concerns about the VR were eradicated.

The data tracker GfK does not track the sales of HTC Vive and that of Oculus Rift from its official website. When compared to PlayStation VR, the Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive VR devices suffer even when both these VR devices are focused towards gamers.

The VR units of HTC and Oculus Rift are costly and they also require a relatively high-performance PC. On the other hand, PlayStation VR is benefited due to the large installed base of PS4 owners in the United Kingdom which is estimated to be 3.5 million.

Past PlayStation VR sales in the UK suggest that the company is approaching the combined installed base of both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Initial PlayStation games are positively featuring official UK top 40 game charts with eight or nine boxed releases.

In the past adopters were not at all certain of what to expect from the VR gaming experience. It was Sony's PlayStation branding which eradicated many concerns and led to high expectations.

According to a survey, the initial reactions from PlayStation VR owners are positive. Few state that the experience surpasses expectations and for many people, it is a talking point with the friends. Few owners also believe that the VR gaming experience is a solitary one but these owners are surprised pleasantly by the social elements of VR gaming.

It is believed that a number of high profile titles which are due for 2017 might use PlayStation VR.
