Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has finally broken the $200 million international box office records after Friday screenings. Come Saturday morning, it has already raked in USD 227.1 million.

The film opened in China with $11.1 million after the 11,600 screenings. It has put the movie number one in the country, beating even the Potter franchise in all other opening days. In Japan, it has grossed $8.2 million in just three days. The United Kingdom naturally had the highest total of all the international territories. Its grosses are currently $29 million in total.

The Harry Potter spin-off follows the story of Eddie Redmayne who plays the role of Newt Scamander who happens to be an expert with magical creatures. He gets into big trouble when some of his beloved creatures escape from his suitcase and induce sightings throughout New York City. It was directed by David Yates and J.K. Rowling penned the script. Other stars joining Eddie Redmayne include Colin Farrell, Dan Fogler, Katherine Waterston and Samantha Morton, as cited by Variety. This project is expected to become a five-film franchise.

Jared Harris As Dumbledore?

Meanwhile, Slashfilm reported that Jared Harris' name continues to pop up whenever the Young Dumbledore is mentioned. This is because he is the son of Richard Harris who played the Old Dumbledore in two of the Harry Potter films. Unfortunately, the younger Harris doesn't seem very optimistic about the idea.

He said that the film bosses are obviously thinking about it. He hasn't heard anything nor does he expect to because it's not up to him. If previous fan campaigns could be cited as examples, film bosses don't like the idea of being forced. These campaigns usually go in a different direction eventually.

But Jared Harris isn't such a bad idea not just because of his dad. He would be in the right age range, he's a versatile actor and has already worked under Warner Bros. in the past. Right now, fans have their fingers crossed, hoping for the best.
