‘The Crown’ Season 2 Spoilers: Storyline, Cast Updates Unveiled Thanks To Claire Foy

Netflix recently announced that there will definitely be a "The Crown" season 2. Other than the announcement, the actress who plays Queen Elizabeth, Claire Foy, also revealed that there would be cast updates by the second installment. In fact, the writer was reported to have already plotted six seasons for the series. Will this push through?

At present, Claire Foy and Matt Smith are based in London filming for "The Crown" season 2. Retaining their roles as the lead characters Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, respectively, Foy may have slipped on some spoilers for the upcoming episodes.

During an interview with Vulture, Foy revealed that there would be a major casting renewal after "The Crown" season 2. In fact, the actress revealed that everything that would follow the second installment would be brand new and original. The said changes in casting would affect her as well.

Despite the loss of the lead role portrayers in the series, Foy related that the directors and producers of the series were incredible that they wish to create something new, exciting, different, and fresh to the screen if "The Crown" season 3 would be approved. In fact, it was rumored that the show will run for a good six seasons.

Unfortunately, the actress did not verify this information but it was revealed that the show's writer, Peter Morgan, has already plotted six seasons, reported Express.

The Storyline

"The Crown" season 1 told the story of Queen Elizabeth's life from 1947 through 1955. For "The Crown" season 2, the storyline will cover 1955-1965. Foy mentioned that the series will start where it left off.

It would probably start off with Prince Philip leaving his family to go on a world tour. In relation to what happened in reality, The Duke spent four months on his royal yacht to open the Sydney Olympics. However, rumors during such time circulated about the Royal couple having marriage troubles. The show was said to cover how this affected Queen Elizabeth and would likewise cover the birth of Princes Andrew and Edward.

Other than her marriage, Queen Elizabeth's relationship with Prime Minister Anthony Eden along with how she handled the Suez crisis and his resignation would also be discussed. Other storylines would include the employment of Harold McMillan, Alec Douglas-Home, and Harold Wilson.
