'Han Solo: A Star Wars Story Will Start Filming in February 2017
Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm President, has made a big announcement in a recent interview. Han Solo: A Star Wars Story will officially start filming next year in February.
Star Wars. Han Solo (originally played by Harrison Ford) is one of the Star Wars original trilogy's most beloved characters. The captain of the Millenium Falcon and the love interest of Princess Leia Organa, Han Solo is most famously known for shooting first against Greedo.
Lizo Mzimba of the BBC was able to catch Kathleen Kennedy during Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's UK premiere. Kennedy shared that they were already very close to production: "We're going to start shooting in February."
The Han Solo stand-alone film will also be set during the period between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. This will be during the same period as Rogue One, thus calling into speculation Felicity Jones' (Jyn Erso) contract that was revealed to have another movie.
The movie however will be focusing on Han's life before crossing paths with the Rebel Alliance. No other plot details have been revealed as of yet.
Alden Ehrenreich will have the starring role as the young Han Solo and he will be joined by Daniel Glover who plays the young Lando Calrissian. Kennedy has promised that the movie will follow the creative vision of directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
[SPOILER] In J. J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, Han Solo (played by Harrison Ford) was killed by his own son, Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver). This upset most fans of the original trilogy. However, fans everywhere can now rejoice in knowing that Han Solo's backstory will now be revealed.
Episode VIII will hit cinemas on December 15th, 2017. Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to come out in May 2018. Share your thoughts in the comments section!
