Recently, a team of researchers from the University of Oregon collaborated and strengthen the discovery that taking aspirin in low doses help in preventing cancer. A combination of platelets with cancer cells and aspirin in a mixture showed platelets no longer stimulating growth and reproduce non-metastatic and pancreatic cancer cells.

The group of disease involving abnormal cells invading the body is usually caused by environmental factors and inherited genetics. It can be prevented by not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, not drinking too much of alcohol beverages, eating healthy like vegetables, fruits and whole grains, vaccination, balance eating of red meat and lessen sunlight exposure. Early check-up or regular check-up is also considered as prevention, the early the detection of the disease, the early it will be prevented with the treatments available.

The combination of therapies is the usual treatment for cancer such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy and also surgery. A decade ago, it was discovered that the common medication people take to treat fever, pain, inflammation also contributes to the prevention of cancer that may lead to a great use of therapy. However, researchers were not yet into the conclusion on how it worked.

Aspirin only prevents the tumor from spreading. It doesn't necessarily kill cancer cells. According to a professor at OHSU in the Biomedical Engineering department, Owen McCarty, the assistance of aspirin is from the effect in the blood cells which is the platelets. It was also pointed out that the effect of aspirin on platelets is just the same whether it's high or low doses. Scientists prefer a low dose of aspirin as it is just a balance amount and limits the bleeding while the high dose rises the bleeding.

This is one big step for the medical industry to soon discover the cure for cancer. As of now, it is recommended to consult a physician first before indulging in treatment by taking aspirin to prevent cancer.
