Intimacy Is Linked To Cancer Patients And Survivors Problem

Every individual, whether cancer patients or survivors, often experience changes in intimacy and sexuality after cancer treatment. Even though a person is undergoing cancer treatment it is not a hindrance for a cancer patient not to experience intimacy. It should not be taken away the right to enjoy what a cancer patient ought to enjoy while still living the rest of the days on earth.

There are ways to improve sexual problems related to cancer patients and survivors. They should have open communication and share cancer-related concerns that will help boost emotional intimacy and trust.  They must understand each other to have a healthy relationship. Find a way to have a satisfying sexual intercourse. Be cautious and know the pros and cons of having sexual activity.

Some of the issues concerning for intimacy and sexuality on women are a decrease of sexual desire, difficulty to achieve orgasm and sexual arousal, vaginal dryness and pain during sex. For men, they also experience loss of sexual desire, unable to maintain an erection, ejaculation and orgasm problems.

Problems with intimacy can occur in every individual with cancer and survivor but it depends on the individual on how to cope with the situation. Whether you have a breast cancer, prostate cancer, or ovarian cancer, it is in the cancer patient on how to find ways to be sexually active.

Men and women have different struggles and experiences in dealing intimacy and sexuality. For women with breast cancer surgery may result in lost physical sensation and limitation of pleasure. After prostate surgery for men, it can cause erectile, ejaculation and orgasm problems. These problems may also lead to intimacy and sexuality issues.

Moreover, intimacy is essential for the quality of life for every person. In order to avoid such problem cancer patients need to seek for healthcare professionals in order to address their needs.
