‘Super Mario Run’ News & Updates: The Nintendo Mobile Game Has Fallen [POLL]

“Super Mario Run” struck it rich recently when it debuted earlier this month. A lot of that was attributed to the fact that it was the first offering from Nintendo, not to mention the newest game folks could get from the Apple App Store. The game was the talk of the town when it first came out on Dec. 15.

"Super Mario Run" was the fastest mobile game to pass the 25 million download mark in just a week though all that was attributed to the hype. With the game holding no provisions for added content and requiring payment for the full version, most believed its spike would soon fall. Apparently, that time has come with “Super Mario Run” no longer the top app last Dec. 24 and 25, Bloomberg reported.

With the game limited to the first three levels, requiring a $10 payment beyond was seen beyond the industry standards. Most free games normally focus on in-game purchases for profit but Nintendo apparently had something else in mind for “Super Mario Run”. But aside from that, gameplay also took a hit. “Super Mario Run” is a sane game to play but has been criticized for its recurring nature.

All players would need to do is tap with the app controlling the running part of “Mario” for the game. Nintendo did try to insert some other stuff to do on “Super Mario Run” with “Toad Rally” and “Kingdom Builder”. While they kept players busy, it remains that most simply wanted more of the action fairly similar to the game console versions, Phone Arena reported.

There is no doubt that “Super Mario Run” would have been a hit if not for the profit-first strategy that Nintendo obviously had in mind. Compared to “Pokemon Go”, the differences are glaring. Also, the continuous updates made by Niantic is something that has been keeping “Pokemon Go” within striking distance of getting back on top. With no added content or events on Nintendo’s end, the dislodging may only be the start of a spiral of “Super Mario Run” at the Apple App Store.
