'Mario Kart 64' Release Date, News & Update: Nintendo Game Arriving to the Wii U Virtual Console Today
Wii U gamers are in for a treat this holiday season, as Nintendo's "Mario Kart 64" is finally arriving to the Wii U Virtual Console. For just $10, gamers can get the game on the Wii U Virtual Console beginning today.
Engadget reports that "Mario Kart 64" is now playable on the Wii U Virtual Console, complete with its washed out graphics. For gamers who already have "Mario Kart 64" on the Wii Virtual Console, you just need to spend $2 for the upgrade.

According to Attack of the Fanboy, the Wii U is a dying console. Only a handful of games are being anticipated on it, including "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild." Nonetheless, "Mario Kart 64" is making its way to the Wii U Virtual Console today, giving gamers a chance to keep busy until new releases arrive.
"Mario Kart 64" first arrived to the Nintendo 64 back in 1997, and since then has become a worldwide phenomenon. The game is directed by Hideki Konno and produced by Shigeru Miyamoto. The game features four game modes namely, "Grand Prix," "Time Trial," "Versus mode," and "Battle mode." It also features several playable characters including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Yoshi, and Bowser.
"Mario Kart 64" has been named as the 17th greatest Nintendo game of all time by the Official Nintendo Magazine's list. It has sold over 5.5 million copies in the United States alone, 9.87 copies worldwide, and was named the second best-selling gaem on Nintendo 64.
