'The Walking Dead' Season 7: Show Reportedly Renewed for Several More Seasons; Corey Hawkins' Heath Possibly Returning
While there's about six weeks before "The Walking Dead" seaso 7 returns to AMC, there's been some buzz surrounding the highly followed TV series. Since the introduction of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan, the show has morphed into a bigger TV phenomenon since its premiere in 2010. The TV adaptation of the comic book is well into its seventh season, and it now begs the question if it will be renewed for several more seasons.
AMC's "The Walking Dead" season 7 has earned well over 10 million viewers on its weakest episode, which still indicates a strong following. Recently, the show's writer and creator Robert Kirkman commented on the long-running series and comics and its parallels. According to ComicBook, he said that while it "took us 6 seasons to get to 100 [issues]," it wouldn't take them another six to reach the 200th issue.
He added that the comics will definitely be ahead of the show, regardless if it gets renewed for several more seasons. "The Walking Dead" season 7 is set to return to AMC on February 12, 2017, giving fans ample time to speculate on what's to come. In fact, Digital Spy reports that Corey Hawkins' Heath may be returning to the show.
Heath's fate is unclear on "The Walking Dead" season 7, as he left not so much without a trace, as he did leave his glasses and a pair of tire tracks. Hawkins is set to star in the upcoming "24: Legacy" as Eric Carter, a larger role that he deems a "priority right now." But that doesn't mean he has left "The Walking Dead" season 7 for good. In fact, he did hint that he and the people behind the AMC show are still in contact and are talking about how to make Heath return to the show.
"The Walking Dead" season 7 will return to AMC this February 12, 2017. Fans can remain hopeful that the show will be renewed for several more seasons despite the slight ratings drop.
