'Dragon Quest XI' News & Update: Dragon Riding Featured in Newly Released Gameplay Footage
Now that "Dragon Quest XI" has been confirmed for a Japan release (no word yet on North America, unfortunately), the studio behind the upcoming game has been rolling out promo videos. The latest one features dragon riding, something that gamers may look forward to when the game hits PlayStation 4, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Switch next year.
The news comes via Polygon, which reports that newly released gameplay footage for "Dragon Quest XI" was aired by Japanese television channel NHK. The presentation was in honor of "Dragon Quest"'s 30th anniversary this year. Gamers can also catch glimpses of the game on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS.
According to PlayStation Lifestyle, the newly released gameplay footage of "Dragon Quest XI" also tells gamers how they can camp in the game. Camping will enable gamers to rejuvenate and restore their health and magic. There are also several camping activities they can do, such as "mysterious smithing," praying to the goddess, and patroling the area.
Speaking of smithing, "Dragon Quest XI" gamers should also expect to create several weapons with the activity. Such weapons include the Copper Sword, Iron Sword, and Platinum Sword. Gamers can also create a Zombie Killer, Zombie Buster, Platinum Sword, Fire Sword, and Inferno Sword. Other weapons include the Magic Swordsman Rapier, Metal Slime Sword, Miracle Sword Modified, and Hayabusa Sword Modified.
Recently, Square Enix released additional details about "Dragon Quest XI"'s main character and his allies. The studio released details about the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game, as well as the story behind the game. For those playing on Nintendo 3DS, Gematsu reports that there will be a "3D Mode" on the top screen, and "2D Mode" on the bottom screen, which will be showcased simultaneously. "Dragon Quest XI" will be released in Japan sometime in 2017.
