NBA 2016 Latest News & Updates: Randy Foye Changes The Script In Jeremy Lin’s Absence
The Brooklyn Nets continue to struggle and much of that was compounded with Jeremy Lin sidelined yet again. This means that Kenny Atkinson needs to look at alternatives once more, hopefully, better than last time out.
When Jeremy Lin got injured last November, Sean Kilpatrick and Isaiah Whitehead were tasked to fill in. Randy Foye was also mentioned but the 33-year-old veteran never got anything going. All that changed recently when the veteran changed the team flow for the Brooklyn Nets. He was responsible for the three-point buzzer-beater that lifted the Brooklyn Nets over the Charlotte Hornets and then followed that up with a big game against the Chicago Bulls, NBA.com reported.
After starting out the season with a hamstring injury, it looks like the veteran has finally gotten his groove. But will it result in better days ahead for Atkinson and company? Right now, all Foye and the Nets have in mind is climbing up the Eastern Conference standings. They are in the cellar with an 8-24 card, sharing the last spot with the Philadelphia 76ers.
The task ahead is daunting with Lin out indefinitely but Foye may have something better else in mind – slowing down the Nets tempo, the NY Post reported. Based on that game against the Bulls, the ploy seemed to work. Foye showed poise and leadership as he tried to settle down his teammates. Having played with other big names like Blake Griffin and Kevin Durant, the 33-year-old could certainly do the same with Brook Lopez. And so he did.
Lopez finished with 33 points for the night with Foye using his veteran prowess. His physicality on defense also helped, possibly evolving the Nets into something than a plain run-and-gun squad. With the new script, it will be interesting what Atkinson decides to do once Lin is cleared to return. Will it be up-tempo or a deliberate offense?
