'Justice League' News, Release Date & Spoilers: DC Entertainment Geoff Johns Confirms Amber Heard's Mera Debut in Film
One of this year's most highly anticipated superhero flicks comes in the form of "Justice League," the DC film that brings together Batman, Wonder Woman, and a slew of other familiar heroes. The film's release date is set for November 11, and ahead of its debut comes news that Amber Heard's Mera is making her debut in "Justice League."
According to ComicBook, DC Entertainment's CCO and President Geoff Johns took to Twitter to announce Amber Heard's Mera debuting in this year's "Justice League." While she will be appearing alongside Jason Momoa's "Aquaman" next year, she will have a role in this year's "Justice League." Johns was very excited to announce the "first ever live action Mera" in a series of tweets, as seen below.

This is the first time that Mera will come to the big screen. The role will be played by Amber Heard, who recently became tabloid fodder following her divorce from Johnny Depp. The actress is set to join Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher in the highly anticipated "Justice League" this year. The film also stars Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg, and is directed by Zack Snyder.
"Justice League" will feature Amber Heard's Mera, who in the comic books is known as the Queen of Dimension Aqua and wife to Aquaman. She is also twin sister to Hila. The role of Mera was previously played by Elena Satine in "Smallville," and this is the first time the role will be on the big screen.
Meanwhile, in other DC news, "Aquaman" is set to begin filming in Australia this May. The news comes via Daily Mail, whch reports that "Aquaman," which is set to arrive in October 2018. The production will shoot at Village Roadshow studios in the Gold Coast, where Ambert Heard's Mera will join Jason Momoa's "Aquaman."
