Following last year's polarizing "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," it seems that DC Entertainment is taking a page from Marvel and making "Justice League" a little less serious. Proof of which is the footage they've shown during last year's Comic Con, which features quips from Ezra Miller's The Flash and Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne himself. The latest news surrounding Affleck is that he might not direct the standalone "The Batman" film after all. Affleck himself said so, and fans are left to wonder what has become of the highly anticipated standalone film.

According to The Guardian, Affleck's "The Batman" was supposed to be directed by the actor himself, is still in its early stages of development. While previous news have indicated that there was a script for "The Batman" already, Affleck's statements claim otherwise. He said of his directorial role in the film, "it’s not a set thing and there’s no script."

Affleck added that "If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Affleck indicated in previous press appearances that the script was already in development. However, it seems that a final script is nowhere in sight yet for the upcoming film that caused a pushback for "Justice League 2."

Meanwhile, it will be a busy year for DC Entertainment, as several highly anticipated films are set to be released within the next 12 to 18 months. There's "Wonder Woman," which hits big screens this June 2, and "Justice League," which is slated for November 17. Heavy reports that "The Flash" is set for March next year, while "Aquaman" is slated for an October 2018 release. The studio is keeping mum on the movie that's slated for a July 27, 2018 release, but fans are speculating that it's "The Batman."

Right now, it seems that Ben Affleck might not direct the film after all, seeind that there's no script for the upcoming standalone film just yet. In the meantime, fans can look forward to "Justice League," arriving in November.
