'Diablo' News & Update: Blizzard Celebrates 20th Anniversary with 'Diablo-themed' Content in 'Overwatch,' 'World of Warcraft,' 'Heroes of the Storm'
Blizzard fans and gamers have a lot to celebrate this New Year, as the studio is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the "Diablo" franchise. With this comes the arrival of several "Diablo"-themed surprises in "Overwatch," released in May,"Heroes of the Storm," which was releasd in June, and "World of Warcraft," among other awesome games.
The news comes via PlayStation Lifestyle, which reports that the 20th anniversary celebration of "Diablo" will be celebrated across Blizzard's other games as well. According to Polygon, "Overwatch" gamers can expect in-game sprays representing different "Diablo III" classes, as well as a new player icon in honor of the Lord of Terror himself.

As for "World of Warcraft," gamers should expect denizens from Sanctuary crossing over to the world of Azeroth. In "Heroes of the Storm," gamers will find that a new "Diablo"-themed portrait is obtainable during the battle for the High Heavens. "Diablo" fans should also expect the "Darkening of Tristam" event, which was first announced during last year's BlizzCon.
"Darkening of Tristam" is a dungeon crawl that features a new "retro vision" graphics filter that "Diablo" fans will surely enjoy. The event will be available every year moving forward as part of "Diablo"'s 20-year journey. In the event, gamers will be able to access all 16 levels in the original "Diablo," as well as the four original bosses. Gamers should also anticipate new transmogrifications, with a cleaver that throws it back to the original Butcher and Wirt's leg.
Blizzard has taken to their official website to publish a thank you note to fans and gamers who have supported the "Diablo" franchise. Now that it's celebrating 20 years, Blizzard shares their gratitude for the "unrelenting passion" of those who continue to support the franchise.
