Manny Pacquiao Next Fight Latest News & Updates: Terence Crawford Match Happening Possible Only At A Hefty Price
Manny Pacquiao vs. Terence Crawford could be happening this April if Top Rank is able to give in to the boxer/politician’s asking price. Pacquiao is open to facing the two-weight world champion only if he gets a guaranteed purse worth $20 million.
Such was revealed by Manny Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz revealing the demands of the eight-time division champion, the Manila Bulletin reported. A match with Crawford looms as the best option for the Pac-Man right now seeing Floyd Mayweather Jr. sticking to his decision to retire. The latest update on the plans of Manny Pacquiao for 2017 follows up a previous dish from Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.
He hinted that Pacquiao could be returning to the ring in June 2017 and everything depends on his schedule in the senate. He and the Pacquiao camp are expected to sit down to discuss soon. However, it seems that Manny Pacquiao’s next bout may be happening in April. This is because the Philippine senate will take a break by the middle of March until May 2, the window plausible for the Filipino to prepare and take some time out to return to the ring, Boxing Scene reported.
The asking purse of Manny Pacquiao seems stiff though it may have been arrived at considering Pacquiao may permanently call it a career soon. Arum believes that Pacquiao will fight at least twice for 2017, opting not to weigh in on the boxing icon’s plans thereafter. For Crawford, this is not the first time that his name has been tossed as Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent.
In early 2016, he was among the names mentioned to face the Filipino for his supposedly last fight in April 2016. A trilogy with Timothy Bradley eventually happened, a move made since it made the most financial sense. This time, Crawford is hoping to gain the nod. He understands it is a business and leaves all negotiations at the hands of his coaches and managers.
