"Injustice 2" has yet to announce an official release date but based on trends in the past, a lot of NetherRealm titles arrived April. However, it is best for fans to wait for the studio or its game director to give out official information about the game. Despite the confirmation from Ed Boon, some fans believe that the game director could just be saving face so fans could wait until an official announcement has been made.
On the contrary, NetherRealm Studios may just be preparing a big announcement during the Evolution Championship Series (EVO) 2017. Many studios are likely to launch their games ahead of the fighting game tournament, which is held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada around July. Launching "Injustice 2" just before the event can create a lasting impression on its fans. Whatever case may be, fans are hoping that it won't take very long for NetherRealm Studios to release "Injustice 2" this year.
