'Pokemon Go' Latest News & Updates: Santa-Hat Pikachu Officially A Rare Catch, AR Game Reverts To Normal Programming
One of the high points of the “Pokemon Go” Holiday event was the hunt for the Santa-Hat Pikachu which should have ended in Dec. 29, 2016. But seeing how Niantic may have been in the festive mood, the special critter was still made available until the early days of January 2017.
Aside from that, there were the big hauls that included the 1-use incubators. Those were also extended for “Pokemon Go” players a bit in January. Sad to say, all of that is over and done with, meaning the hit game is reverting back to normal operations and offering a new wave of Pokemon such as “Bulbasaurs”, “Charmanders” and “Squirtles”, according to The Silph Road.
As mentioned in a previous post, all these comprise part two of the Holiday event. Also included are the longer of lures which will last for 60-minutes (1 hour) for this period. But going back to the Santa-Hat Pikachu, there are some “Pokemon Go” gamers who may have missed the chance to snag one. The spawn rates bumped up a bit during Christmas with most catching multiple critters.
The Santa Hat will stay for the ones who caught him, technically making them a rare. So for players, it may be wise to keep them in your inventory for possible future trading (if it does get activated by Niantic). Also, these critters can still evolve into a Santa Raichu. Prowling for Pikachu out in the wild right now will see the normal-looking Pikachu for “Pokemon Go” gamers. For those who failed to catch one during the Holidays, trading may be their only chance to get one.
Aside from that, the incubator freebies are gone as well on “Pokemon Go”. That should be a bummer for the ones who were enjoying the limited use incubators which helped in hatching those KM eggs by bulk. Looking ahead and assuming Niantic continues its practice of holding big events, there is a chance of more critters and goodies happening for “Pokemon Go” players so keep an eye out.
