NBA Trade 2017 Latest News & Updates: Andrew Bogut Goes With The Flow, Waits For New Calling
Andrew Bogut has been used to playing long minutes and starting for other teams. He was a starter for the Milwaukee Bucks and for a time with the Golden State Warriors. But for apparent reasons, the Australian big man was demoted to the bench for more speed.
Alongside resident star Dirk Nowitzki, head coach Rick Carlisle had a slow five on the floor which places the Mavs in a compromising position. With most teams going small for the run-and-gun style of play, adjustments had to be needed. Bogut was traded back in January by the Golden State Warriors to the Mavs in exchange for a future second-round pick. The trade was made to free up salary space for the celebrated signing of Kevin Durant.
When on the floor, Bogut is one of the best rim protectors on the floor and contribute in a variety of ways. Injuries have slowed down the 32-year-old center, the last of which was a knee injury he suffered in Dec. 2016. That last injury was expected to slow Bogut all the more and one reason why he has been relegated to the bench. It is an unusual situation for the 7-footer and most are now under the impression that he may be traded soon.
With Bogut coming off the bench, the Mavs won over the Washington Wizards (113-105) to move up a bit in the bottom part of the Western Conference standings. The experiment has produced positive results and the veteran center will just have to wait and see how it goes from here, Dallas News reported.
With regards to a trade, Andrew Bogut is ready for anything. He wouldn’t mind a buyout to start fresh – not to mention having the freedom to join any team he wants, Yahoo Sports reported. Bogut is aware of the NBA trade deadline frenzy and is prepared for anything. He could move or stay on with the Mavs at least until the end of the 2016 NBA season.
