UFC 2017 Latest News & Update: Amanda Nunes Pours It on, Claims Ronda Rousey Overrated
UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes has all the reason to gloat following her demolition f Ronda Rousey at UFC 207. While most of the attention was on the former champion, Nunes believes that the attention is what made “Rowdy” overrated.
For Nunes, she breaks the jinx of the title changing hands after one reign. The UFC women’s bantamweight title has changed hands since Rousey lost it to Holly Holm at UFC 193. Holm lost the title to Miesha Tate and “Cupcake” eventually bowed to Nunes.
As for Rousey, Nunes wonders how the former champion was able to reign for quite so long with the kind of stance she put up. As she did when she lost to Holm, Rousey still had no answer to the strikes coming her way. Aside from that, Rousey is made to believe that she is a boxer though she is apparently not, Nunes said via Fox Sports. Nunes lays the blame on Rousey’s coach, Edmond Tarverdyan.
Obviously, there was the lack of preparation to go with the questionable confidence “Rowdy” showed at UFC 207. Rather than boxing, Nunes believes Ronda should have focused on Judo which could help her rise from the ashes. Until that time comes, Nunes remains skeptical on how Rousey was able to become the face of the UFC for long, the NY Post reported. Some may think Nunes is going way over her head though she has every right to do so.
Nunes is on a five-fight winning streak and remains the undisputed champion. There is no word yet on who she will face next – someone who will need to bring her A-game to fend off the “Brazilian Vixen”. As for Rousey, the future is still unclear. She did mention that her clash with Nunes would be among her last though many believe it should be the last one.
