'Supergirl' Spoilers, News & Update: Melissa Benoist Hopeful for Season 3; Kevin Smith-Directed Premiere to Feature Roulette, Walker's Moon
"Supergirl" season 2 has successfully made its way to The CW, and when it returns to TV screens this January 23, viewers will get to see the return of Dichen Lachman’s Roulette. Interestingly, The CW has released the official synopsis of the upcoming episode of "Supergirl" season 2 titled "Supergirl Lives."
According to ScreenCrush, the Kevin Smith-directed premiere is set to feature Roulette, who Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Mon-El (Chris Wood) find in Slaver's Moon. The two heroes find themselves in Slaver's Moon after investigating the case of a missing woman, played by Harley Quinn Smith. There, the heroes will find that they do not have powers, thanks to the red sun. They will have some difficulty finding their way back to Earth, as well.
Meanwhile, the upcoming episode of "Supergirl" season 2 will also find Chyler Leigh's Alex blaming herself for Kara's disappearance, while Supergirl is in Walker's Moon. Alex begins to worry that she's become too focused on her relationship with Floriana Lima's Maggie that she's forgotten to look out for Kara.
In other "Supergirl" news, it seems that Melissa Benoist is looking forward to a third season renewal for the show. For a successful series such as "Supergirl," it's highly unlikely that it would not get a season renewal. The crossover event with "The Flash," "Arrow," and "Legends of Tomorrow" was a massive success, and fans are even looking forwarf to seeing Mr. Mxyzptlk before the season ends.
Benoist admitted to the Denver Post that she is truly hopeful that "Supergirl" would earn a third season. She credits the writers for "relating the show to a lot of things going on in our country right now and bringing up issues of equality" and believes that this is one of the things that makes the show appealing to viewers.
