HTC is believed to be pulling out the stops this 2017, unveiling three new handsets with the HTC U Ultra, HTC One X10 and HTC 11. While it was previously believed that the HTC Ocean Note (or HTC U Ultra) would hog the limelight, there could be a fourth device in the mix that may catch techies off guard with an alleged HTC Vive phone.

Everyone is aware of the efforts that HTC needs to undertake to improve on its market share in the smartphone segment. The speculated features of the upcoming devices should be something but adopting the virtual reality angle could potentially work. All this was teased in a video where HTC dished at the possible influence of the HTC Vive phone and result in a Vive-branded smartphone, Android Headlines reported.

Taking a look at the teased image of the HTC Vive Phone, the device features a metal unibody that comes with antenna bands which sit along certain areas of the device. An HTC Vive logo appears on the rear of the device which lets off rumors of compatibility with the company’s virtual reality headset. If so, HTC could be following the footsteps of the Samsung Gear VR or the Google Daydream.

Considering their fortunes, seeing an HTC Vive phone come out in 2017 may not hurt. The HTC 10 hardly made a difference when it debuted last time out and adding another foray to the mix could improve their chances at redemption as mentioned in a previous post.

Seeing the popularity and success of the HTC Vive, coming up with an HTC Vive Phone could aid both products. It expands the use of the VR headset while high-end users get a device that can satisfy their media entertainment cravings. Much of this is expected to clear up as the Mobile World Congress 2017 nears. Either way, there are at least three HTC phones expected to come out.
