It seems that Melissa Benoist's instincts were correct. "Supergirl" has been renewed for a third season, and with that news also comes some revelations on some villains that will arrive to National City to cause trouble. There's so much buzz surrounding "Supergirl" season 2 this week, so let's tackle them one by one.

First of all, Deadline reported that "Supergirl" season 2 won't be its last, as The CW has renewed the Greg Berlanti show, as well as three other DC series, "Arrow," "The Flash," and "Legends of Tomorrow." This unsurprising move also comes with the news that "Supernatural," "Jane the Virgin," and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" will also see season renewals. But now that "Supergirl" season 2 won't be its last, what is to be expected when the show returns on January 23? Crossover villains and Mr. Myxzptlk, that's what.

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Supergirl" season 2 and "The Flash" has found its musical crossover villain in the form the Music Meister. It makes so mucjh sense, given that the crossover episode will be a musical that may find our heroes singing and dancing to the beat. The Music Meister, as Berlanti explained, is a villain who can control people through song. Berlanti also hinted that Neil Patrick Harris, who previously lent his voice to the character in the episode "Mayhem of the Music Meister" for "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" may return to reprise the role.

Meanwhile, the Music Meister isn't the only villain arriving to "Supergirl" season 2. It was previously announced that Mr. Mxyzptlk will be a new addition to the show, and now we know who will embody the role. According to Comicbook, "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" actor Peter Gadiot will be joining "Supergirl" season 2 in a two-episode stint to play Mr. Mxyzptlk.

"Supergirl" season 2 returns to The CW on January 23. Check out the trailer below for the upcoming episode titled "Supergirl Lives," directedby Kevin Smith.
