‘The Night Manager’ Season 2 News & Update: Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie Talk About Possibility; Reveal Chances
"The Night Manager" has dominated the 74th Golden Globe Awards with a number of recognitions. With its evident success, a lot are still hoping and wondering if there would be "The Night Manager" Season 2.
The critically-acclaimed mini-series stars Tom Hiddleston, Olivia Colman and Hugh Laurie all won their respective awards for their incomparable stints on "The Night Manager." In fact, it was even nominated for 12 Emmy Awards last year. Its ratings were even a hit when in aired on BBC in 2016 and was tagged as "one of the greatest series of all time." With all of its honors, some expect that "The Night Manager" Season 2 will come.
However, according to Daily Express, people behind the television adaptation of the 1993 novel by John le Carré can't renew "The Night Manager" Season 2 yet. The author's son and producer Simon Cornwell revealed that the producers love to create a new chapter, but it has to explore a "new territory" as the original book doesn't have a sequel.
Cornwell also explained that le Carré hasn't penned an extended story that confines the novel, but they admitted that doing "The Night Manager" Season 2 would be far more interesting and exciting. Hiddleston, on the other hand, said that the final decision of doing another series depends on the story's original author. "Truthfully, I think it is still in the lap of le Carré himself," he said.
The former boyfriend of Taylor Swift admitted that there are a lot of requests for "The Night Manager" Season 2, but the choice has to be made by le Carré. If the 85-year-old novelist sees a way that the show's narrative can continue while retaining its original concept, there's a big possibility that it will happen. Moreover, Laurie believed that there would be a second series as he still sees a "glimmer of possibility" because of its huge success, per The Independent.
