In any divorce, high profile or otherwise, the battle usually begins with child custody. In the case of the Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt divorce, there are six lives at stake, but the former couple decides to seal all court documents to protect their privacy. A joint statement was recently released by the two actors, saying that they have indeed signed a document to "preserve the privacy rights of their children," Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

According to a statement released by the couple to CNN following the Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt divorce, "The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification." Jolie is seeking physical custody of all six children, while Pitt is seeking joint custody of both their adopted and biological kids.

In the meantime, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed how the Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt divorce proceedings will use a private judge to keep details of the divorce private and confidential. The pair were married for two years following a 12-year relationship, which spawned three biological children. Shiloh is their first biological daughter born in 2006, followed by twins Knox and Vivienne born in 2008. Rounding up the family are Zahara, Pax, and Maddox, who were adopted by Jolie, and later, Pitt.

Back in September, BBC reported of the Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt divorce, which shocked a lot of people. Jolie's lawyer, Robert Offer said that the "decision was made for the health of the family." The two cited "irreconcilable differences." Since then, Pitt has been plagued by rumors of child abuse.

As the Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt divorce heightens, the two are continuing their respective careers, however. Jolie is set to executively produce the animated film "The Breadwinner," which will be released this year. Pitt, on the other hand is set to produce "The Lost City of Z" and "War Machine," which are both set to be released this year.
