WWE Royal Rumble 2017 Latest News & Update: Undertaker In, Shawn Michaels Still Contemplating
The Jan. 9 edition of WWE Raw was all about the return of two icons in Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker. Michaels played a minor role but the big announcement was the “Dead Man’s” entry into the Royal Rumble 2017.
The Undertaker interrupted Raw general manager’s job evaluation, something that angled at a possible firing of the WWE legend. A lot of it was hooked up to the fact that Foley was unable to produce the Undertaker in the early goings until the familiar gong sound struck. On cue, the Undertaker was back in New Orleans, the same place where his Wrestlemania streak ended. He immediately announced his entry into the Royal Rumble 2017 with cameras even showing a curious Braun Strowman following the festivities, WWE.com reported.
Such suggested multiple possibilities, including a showdown with the man-mountain. The Undertaker is one of the favorites to win the Royal Rumble, something that could set up his next match at Wrestlemania 33 in April. The opponent in mind is John Cena who will vie for the WWE SmackDown championship the same night. An Undertaker win could set up a title clash though the “Dead Man” may eventually fall short and eventually be sent off to retirement.
As far as Shawn Michaels is concerned, “HBK” made it clear that he wanted to serve as an example to retirees. He has had appearances time and again but a complete return to the WWE ring is still something some fantasize on. He appeared to promote his upcoming film, “The Resurrection of Gavin Stone”, Cageside Seats reported.
Nevertheless, the night wouldn’t be complete without some “Sweet Chin Music”, something he delivered to Rusev during the Big Cass vs. Jinder Mahal match. Michaels didn’t tease of a Royal Rumble participation though he hinted at possibly being there but possibly just to make an appearance since the event does take place in his hometown of San Antonio.
