It has truly been a big year for Bethesda. Pete Hines' studio has made some huge decisions by cancelling the highly anticipated "Doom 4" as well as "Prey 2". In addition to that, it has been confirmed that "The Elder Scrolls 6" is STILL not in production.

But what exactly happened? Pete Hines has decided to explain the sudden cancellation of "Doom 4" and "Prey 2". The Bethesda vice president may have even dropped a hint on what fans can expect in "The Elder Scrolls 6" when it finally begins production.

In an interview with XBox: The Official Magazine (via GamesRadar), Pete Hines spoke about the difficult decision to cancel "Doom 4". According to the Bethesda VP, the new title was simply "not hitting the marks it needs to" and the studio decided that "it's just not 'Doom'" at all. Hines explained that it was hard to drop a game that spent plenty of time in development but shared that it was better to start over in order for it to "be the right thing, executed the right way."

The cancellation of "Doom 4" was not the only thing Pete Hines discussed. The Bethesda VP also addressed what's in store for the future, stating that the studio intends to "do what we did last time, only better." This has led to speculations that Hines might be referring to "The Elder Scrolls 6", which has long been expected to be a true sequel to "Skyrim".

Unfortunately, Pete Hines did not offer any updates on "The Elder Scrolls 6". The vice president of Bethesda has previously confirmed that the game is not yet in production and fans probably shouldn't hold their breath while waiting for the title to be announced. In the meantime, gamers can rest assured that the studio has plenty of projects lined up in the next few years.
