Admittedly, one of the best TV offerings of 2016 was "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life," a remake of the early aughts' most popular TV series. The production brought back Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham to play the country's favorite mother-daughter duo and showcase their quirky relationship. While the remake lasted for four episodes, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino made sure to make an open end just in case the series would progress even more.

The latest news surrounding "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" is that Melissa McCarthy, who played the lovable Sookie in the series, no longer wants to play the role in case the series returns with more episodes. In fact, Entertainment Tonight reported that during a recent TCA press day, McCarthy explained that instead of playing Sookie, she wants to play this character instead: Lorelai.

While McCarthy may be joking about playing Lorelai in future episodes of "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life," fans have become hopeful that the show would get picked up for more episodes. Refinery29 reported that Netflix is already hinting at more episode of the "Gilmore Girls" remake, given the warm response to "A Year in the Life."

As previously mentioned, the miniseries had an open ending, leaving room for more stories to be told and more questions to be answered. One major question that "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" has yet to answer is, who is the father of Rory's baby? The Gilmore Girls fanbase has already launched debates and discussions on whether it should be Milo Ventimiglia's Jess, Jared Padalecki's Dean, or Matt Czuchry's Logan.

Even Ventimiglia was left clueless as to who the father of the baby may be. Ventimiglia admitted that he hasn't gotten around to really thinking about who would Rory's baby daddy would be, but he thinks that it may not be Jess, Dean, or Logan.
