Niantic has been enjoying the success of “Pokemon Go” and such as resulted into business tie-ups. Past tie-ups for the augmented reality company include deals with McDonalds, Starbucks, Boost Mobile, RadioShack, and Sprint. More are expected to follow though Niantic is now dialed in to lend a helping hand to boost the “Global Goals” campaign.

A new deal will be made official soon with word that Niantic is collaborating with Project Everyone to push awareness for The Global Goals campaign happening at the World Economic Forum. The move veers away from the previous setup where consumer brands were the focus, Slash Gear reported. Now, “Pokemon Go” hopes to help out as an awareness partner as it tries to push the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development.

These 17 Global Goals that Niantic plans to take part in are the same ones agreed upon by 193 world leaders. The initiative hopes to address various problems that include poverty, fight inequalities and climate change on or before 2030. 17 new PokeStops are up over in Davos, each representing one of the Global Goals. These select stops intend to serve as reminders to make sure that the Global Goals stay on the minds of folks, particularly the ones attending the 47th annual meeting in Davos.

Seeing how the popularity of “Pokemon Go” has become overwhelming, filmmaker Richard Curtis is upbeat that the collaboration will provide a big boost to the Global Goals. He sees it as a great way to build awareness for the ones in Davos with all bases covered. In fact, the Congress Centre where the event would be held will even be turned into a Pokemon Gym, giving “Pokemon Go” players a chance to compete in Pokemon battles, One Young World reported.

The different undertaking should be a big boost with “Pokemon Go” hopefully aiding out and building awareness. It does veer Niantic away from the business angle but certainly one that serves a bigger purpose for needed influence.
