LG Electronics will be officially unveiling the LG G6 at the Mobile World Congress 2017, one of many new devices expected to take center stage. Invites have already been sent out by the company for the LG event which kicks off on Feb. 27 as the Korean company tries to pluck a page out of the Samsung playbook.

As mentioned in a previous post, the LG G6 is the company’s latest chip to make up for an underwhelming LG G5. The existence of the LG G6 was confirmed by Chief Technology Officer Skott Ahn, where the upcoming flagship was reportedly set to debut in advance of MWC 2017, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Among the features the LG G6 is expected to carry include a device sporting a 5.7-inch QHD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6 GB or RAM, front-facing stereo speakers, and better wide-angle cameras, Android Central reported. The LG G6 will also adopt the latest biometric security features present in most phones. This includes a fingerprint and iris sensor.

The actual device will be released in a matter of weeks after it is officially launched. The target date is said to be March 10. The LG G6 will shy away from the traditional modular design last seen on the LG G5. Another major change is the battery to be used. While it is allegedly longer-lasting, it will no longer be removable but fixed on the phone’s case.

While that could be something, there are some who would prefer removable batteries for easier replacement in cases of defects or depreciation. With an earlier release date, it will be interesting if the tactic will work to the advantage of the LG G6. Offerings from rivals such as Samsung, Sony, and HTC are expected to come out as well, giving customers a wide array of choice on which smartphone to get next.
