'Vikings' Season 4 Finale Predictions & Spoilers: Ivar The Boneless Faces Young King Alfred The Great In 'The Reckoning'

The fourth season of "Vikings" is almost coming to an end, but what can fans expect from the show's epic season finale? There is a huge possibility that Ivar the Boneless will ride into battle in "The Reckoning", but does this mean Ragnar Lothbrok's crippled son will fight against Athelstan's bastard, the future King Alfred the Great at the end of "Vikings" Season 4?

The latter half of "Vikings" Season 4 has undoubtedly shone the spotlight on Ivar the Boneless, who has successfully taken over as the show's most charismatic (and downright terrifying) character after Ragnar Lothbrok's death. At the same time, the series has repeatedly hinted on a larger role for young Alfred the Great, who is actually the son of the monk Athelstan and Princess Judith of Wessex. But is it possible that the children of two close friends will fight each other in "The Reckoning"?

It might be too soon for young Alfred to step into battle just yet, but there are speculations that the future King will face Ivar the Boneless in "Vikings" Season 5. Actor Ferdia Walsh-Peelo has long been believed to portray an older Alfred the Great in the next season. To confirm speculations, the "Sing Street" star has shared Instagram photos with his possible onscreen parents, one of which shows him with Moe Dunford looking very bloody.

The major battle between Ivar the Boneless and Alfred the Great may have to wait until the fifth season but hopefully, there will be a friendly reunion between the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok and the monk Athelstan. In the meantime, expect a bloody battle in "Vikings" Season 4 Episode 18 as Lagertha defends Kattegat from Harald and Halfdan's men. "On The Eve" will air on History on January 25.
