'Supergirl,' 'The Flash' Musical Crossover Episode News & Update: 'Glee' Alum Darren Criss To Play Villain In 'Duet'
Things are truly getting exciting for "Supergirl" season 2, as the upcoming "Supergirl," "The Flash" musical crossover episodes is hitting the air this March. We recently reported that the "Duet" episodes will begin with "Supergirl" on March 20 and conclude with "The Flash" on March 21. The latest news and update, however, is that The CW shows have finally found their villain.
It was previously reported that the villain for the "Supergirl," "The Flash" musical crossover episode will feature the Music Meister as the villain. Some fans began to wonder if Neil Patrick Harris would reprise his role as the Music Meister after his previous work on the character. Fans can stop wondering now, as Entertainment Weekly reported at "Glee" alum Darren Criss will play villain in "Duet."
It seems like a small "Glee" reunion is underway, as both Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin starred on the musical series as well, and performed alongside Criss. The "Supergirl," "The Flash" musical crossover episode will feature several performances by stars from both shows. According to E! Online, Jesse L. Martin, Victor Garber, Carlos Valdes, Jeremy Jordan, and John Barrowman are all set to show off their singing chops in "Duet" airing in March.
In addition, "Supergirl" stars David Harewood and Chris Wood are expected to make appearances in "The Flash." Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg explained that the "Supergirl," "The Flash" musical crossover episode will find both heroes in "pivotal crossroads," and that the "Duet" episode will have some repercussions for the future of both shows.
Production is remaining tight-lipped on which cover songs and original songs that cast of "Supergirl" and "The Flash" may perform this March. For now, fans are encouraged to stay tuned to "Supergirl," which airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. and "The Flash," which airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
