iOS 11 Latest News & Update: Social Media-Centric Operating System Looms In September
iOS 10 has had its share of ups and downs and Apple continues to work on the current mobile operating system. iOS 10.2.1 is now rolling out, an update that comes with the expected bug fixes and security improvements. As most know, iOS 10 has been criticized for its security flaws so many are hoping that the minor update can simmer down the flames.
iOS 10.2.1 comes just about 42 days after iOS 10.2 rolled out, another fast-tracked and surprise release Apple has been doing as of late, Forbes reported. Aside from the security fix, most are hoping that the dreaded 30-percent battery charge bug is also addressed. This is the same bug that first hit the iPhone 6s but was never touched when iOS 10.2 came out.
A look at the security page for iOS 10.2.1 reveals that the latest rollout covers the under-the-hood kernel improvements and bugs associated with the Auto Unlock when an Apple Watch is hooked in. From here, more versions are expected such as iOS 10.3 believed to be coming out next month. Come September, a major revamp could be brought by iOS 11.
Little has been known on the next major operating system release, though The Verifier reported that it will be focusing heavily on social media. This could hint at ramping up an interface for iMessage and FaceTime, the latter of which may expand onto adding group video calls. Group video calls are currently available only for MacOS versions of FaceTime.
If true, adding it to benefit iOS users will certainly be welcome. Aside from the social media and group video calls, a “dark mode” feature best associated on Android is speculated as well. With iPhones still on TFT-LCD technology, this could be in preparation for the iPhone 8 later this year. As most know, the iPhone 8 is expected to tote an OLED display, which could provide better energy-saving features on the next Apple flagship.
