The fourth season of "Sherlock" may finally be over, but fans continue to hope that there will be another secret episode or even another season that will follow "The Final Problem". Although "Sherlock" Season 5 might still be a possibility in the minds of the viewers, it may take longer to complete now that Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are busy working on new major films.

The fate of the beloved BBC series appeared to have been revealed with the last episode of the fourth season. "The Final Problem" offered a satisfying conclusion to "Sherlock" yet fans still believe that there could be more stories to tell in another season. However, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman might be too busy with their own films at the moment.

Benedict Cumberbatch has been hard at work on his new film "The Current War", where he trades in Sherlock Holmes' dark curls for Thomas Edison's short haircut. Entertainment Weekly even shared the first look at the "Sherlock" Season 5 star as the historical figure. Interestingly, the image was shared at around the same time Martin Freeman was spotted on the set of an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

New photos from the set of "Black Panther" confirm that Martin Freeman will reprise his "Captain America: Civil War" role as Everett Ross. However, it is still unknown how Ross will be doing in the Chadwick Boseman film. In addition to that, it is unclear if Freeman will soon reunite with his "Sherlock" Season 5 costar Benedict Cumberbatch in the MCU film.

But is it possible that the "Sherlock" Season 5 actors will be seen together in a future MCU flick? Benedict Cumberbatch seems to be on the more magical side of MCU as Doctor Strange while Martin Freeman's Everett Ross is closely tied to S.H.I.E.L.D. Nevertheless, fans are hoping that Sherlock Holmes and John Watson will share the big screen soon. Hopefully, Cumberbatch and Freeman will also find the time to work on another season of their beloved BBC show.
