Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Latest News & Update: Samsung Tablet Refresh Specs Teased

By Vaughn Dweebs | Update Date: Jan 25, 2017 08:01 PM EST

The last time Samsung came out with a high-end tablet was the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 back in 2015. There is word that the Korean company is planning a refresh though details for an alleged Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 have been kept to a minimum. The suspense could be over soon with belief that the tablet will be out by this first quarter.

The latest updates tied up to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 include gaining WiFi and Bluetooth certifications, GSM Arena reported. Other than that, the official specs of the upcoming tablet have yet to be known. There is, however, a post over at Weibo (via Android Soul) that could very well append the list of specs for the Galaxy Tab S3. The post alleges that the device will come with an Exynos 7420 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, UFS2.0 storage, USB Type-C port and a home button with an embedded fingerprint sensor.

From the looks of it, Samsung is gearing up to give its favorite rival Apple some competition. Most know that Apple is also on the verge of refreshing its iPad Pro line this year. Hence, it will be interesting if these specs can lure in some buyers to the Korean company’s end. The specs are unofficial meaning they are subject to change.

This early, there seems to be a debate on the processor of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. A report from GFX Bench claims that the tablet will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 which creates a bit of confusion. Then again, Samsung has been known to use either Exynos or Qualcomm, so there are plenty of possibilities (i.e. two different models or offering certain regions with a specific SoC).

Further to the GFXBench report, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 may sport a 9.6-inch display (2048x1536 pixels), 24 GB of internal storage. It may come with Android 7.0 Nougat, a 12.8 MP main camera, and a 5 MP front-facing shooter.
